Overview
Dialysis water quality is a matter of patient safety. During haemodialysis, a patient's blood is exposed to 120–150 litres of water per session — contaminants in the water can pass directly into the bloodstream, causing serious adverse reactions. Dialysis RO water systems are specially designed to produce ultra-pure water meeting AAMI TIR11, ISO 23500, and CPCB standards for haemodialysis water quality.

How It Works
Multi-Stage Pre-treatment
Feed water undergoes softening (to remove hardness), activated carbon filtration (to remove chlorine and chloramines), and 5-micron cartridge filtration before reaching the RO membranes.
First-Pass RO
Pre-treated water passes through the first-pass RO system, removing 97–99% of dissolved ions, bacteria, and endotoxins. Product water conductivity is typically 5–20 µS/cm after the first pass.
Second-Pass RO
First-pass permeate is further purified through a second RO pass, achieving conductivity below 1 µS/cm and endotoxin levels below AAMI standards.
UV Disinfection
Double-pass RO permeate passes through a high-dose UV system (> 40 mJ/cm²) to inactivate any residual bacteria and prevent biofilm formation in the distribution loop.
Recirculation Loop
Purified water is continuously recirculated through a SS 316L distribution loop at a velocity of > 1 m/s to prevent bacterial growth and ensure consistent water quality at every dialysis station.
Monitoring & Sanitisation
Online conductivity, TOC, and endotoxin sensors continuously monitor water quality. Automated heat or chemical sanitisation cycles are performed regularly to maintain microbiological control.
